Fitting the Mold

Fitting the Mold

After browsing the website, you might expect my writing to belong in the romance genre. It is strange that those images and designs were what spoke to me when creating it. But when I think about the types of stories I write, they don’t exactly fit in with the paranormal genre either. Other stories I’ve read in the past that really seem similar to mine are Victorian and Romantic Era Gothic tales.

Think Sir Walter Scott’s My Aunt Margaret’s Mirror, Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, Charles Dickens’ The Signal-man, and Elizabeth Gaskell’s The Old Nurse’s Story.

So really, I think the images actually do fit in with the eras, just not the Gothic part. Both of those Eras conjure up flowery images when I think about them. And I could try to say that there is a hidden code in my website because flowers have had assigned meanings to them in past eras, particularly the Victoria Era. But I can’t actually name most of the flowers in the images I used with any sort of authority or confidence behind my answers, let alone the meaning. So no hidden code there.
